The name Warner E. Hodges might ring a bell to those of us above 35 or so. Mr Hodges was one of those members of the legendary cow-punk band Jason and Scorchers and helped to shape this band back in the eighties.  Today the man is as much active in the scene as twenty years ago, however there where times things where different.

With 'Centerline' the solo debut of  Warner E. Hodges, we can hear and explore different sides of the guitar slinger that once helmed that famous band. Musically the majority of the songs are situated in the Southern rock scene. Hard rocking blues are the main ingredients of this album although Warner also toys around with other styles as well.  Prove of that can be found in his renditions of Merle Haggard’s “Branded Man” or a reworked version of Jason and the Scorchers’ Harvest Moon.  Amongst the self penned tunes one can find such instant classics as “Gimme Gimme”, the personal “Time Marches On” or the Blue Oyster cult clone “How it’s gonna be”.   Hot Pick for this album however is the cover version of Jerry McCain’s “She’s Tuff”, a tune best known in the version of The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

If there is one thing Warner Hodges has to proof to the world, it is without doubt the fact that his talent was clearly overshadowed during his time with Jason and The Scorchers. Together with long time friend Dan Baird and colleague Stacie Collins Warner recently started a new career in music. Not only with this upcoming debut album but also with his contributions to different other bands including being a member of Stacie Collins Road band. However is the main objective for now and with the release of this album scheduled on November the third, this man has filled agenda for sure.
